Well. The last 1 or 2 "possible server downtime due to maitenance" warning we underwent I wasn't locked out a single time. Not one single error 7 or any lag at all (same with my fiance).

So to answer your question: No. You probably won't have an issue getting online and yes you are free to log on during this potential 1-hour "downtime".

What they seem to be saying is that attempting to log on and play is at your own risk.

They don't guarantee you'll be able to get on; they don't guarantee that you won't. They don't guarantee that you won't get disconnected in the middle of something. Basically, you're taking responsibility for it yourself about whether you try or not, and if you have a negative outcome, ArenaNet has no responsibility to try to remedy it or compensate you for anything you may lose in the process, because we the players were fully warned in advance.

Whether you try to log on is at your own discretion. I certainly wouldn't suggest logging on to do anything important, or anything you'd be upset to be interrupted at. Basically, just know you could get the boot at any time without option to reconnect at the same point, and plan accordingly.

@Anakita,yeah thats what I thought, thats cool.(it means I wont be looking for another mmo in the maenwhile that I might get hooked on)

@JonnieBoi05,ow I didnt realize there has been a maintanance before, or at least i made myself think this one will be like bringing the server down for a hour to do work, like many other games do, and was thinking to mysel "wow this will be the first time GW will be down" but i see its not that kind of maintanance.

Nice to hear about the maintenance. I can handle a little downtime. GW has been up for months, so, what's giving up an hour or two?

Thanks, Regina.

Hear hear. I agree. Very nice to keep the community in the know. And since GW hardly ever goes down for this and its only for an hour, i think we will survive. lol. Sweating profusely, crying and rocking in a dark corner with a bottle of jack daniels... but surviving.

You don't need to apologize for it, Anet. Well, I guess some players think you do, but some of us realize that this is the nature of the beast, and has to be done every once in a while. And we don't mind.

So if I'm running people on a dungeon like [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected] and I get disconnected by ACCIDENT , my account won't get banned for scamming customers????

and vice versa...I'm buying runs and runners disconnect, runner won't get ban for stealing all of our gold and getting disconnected at 1am PST????

NEW SCAM!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Typically, a runner will not demand payment in full until the run is complete, because the point of a run is guaranteed success. They will more often ask for proof of ability to pay, or partial payment with the balance given upon completion, etc. If someone is asking for the full price up front, it's not necessarily a scam, but you should definitely ask about the policy on refunds for failed runs.

If you're the runner, you are potentially opening yourself up to accusations of scamming if you're unable to complete the run and don't repay. You should consider in advance how you will settle failed runs, and not schedule your runs for times like during the server maintenance when your chances of failure is high.

You very well might be banned for scamming if you rig a failed run, even if the server maintenance was the cause. It's not guaranteed, but don't assume you'll have immunity for any possible in game behaviour. If it's demonstrably malicious, you may still get in trouble. Buyer beware, though, too, in a major way.

People should be able to play, but there might be intermittent issues where people could get disconnected.
